“As an educator and naturalist, I was enthralled to see so many children eagerly engaging with real biological fieldwork that was purposeful and being led by renowned Tassie scientists. I was proud to be a part of it.”
Kelcey Tier Greenbelt Friday–Saturday 20–21 October 2023
30 hours of: Field surveys, talks, activities, food & discovery!
What is a BioBlitz?
A BioBlitz is described as ‘a festival of science in nature… fun, enjoyable and meaningful to the community, naturalists, scientists and organisations alike… a concerted effort to discover and record as many living things as possible within a set location over a limited time period’ (in this case, 30 hours).
The Kelcey Tier Greenbelt
Devonport’s Kelcey Tier Greenbelt covers a wonderful range of ecosystems, so — with your help — we have a good chance of finding, identifying and recording a spectacular diversity and number of species.
Everyone is welcome to join a survey team, attend a talk at basecamp, browse the stalls and enjoy the great outdoors.
“My class had a wonderful day learning how to conduct surveys for birds and vegetation. The passionate scientists we spent the day with were very inspiring! My students are eager to apply the identification skills they were taught at BioBlitz to the reserve next to our school.”
